Jacek Gryzbowski (R.I.P)

A few weeks ago my partner and my neighbour went tramping in the hills near where we live. They went on a day trip along one one of the trails that usually are not very dangerous so they could get close to nature (as boys tend to do at times of mid life crisis’) . I am thankful and greatful to report they made it back safe and sound.
However, that day, shortly before they set out on their nature walk, a Polish IT developer named Jacek ventured into the same bush for very much the same purpose. Unfortunately, Jacek was not so lucky.
He had not informed anyone of where he was going, and was ill prepared in case the journey turned poorly.
Three days later (i am led to believe) his flatmates reported to their employer that he had not returned home yet. The employer called the police and reported him as a missing person.
On Wednesday following his disappearance we were watching the news and the report came on that a Polish man had disappeared. My partner was on the phone straight away explaining that he and our neighbour had walked along one of the tracks and to them it seemed like they had followed someone who had gone in maybe a few hours earlier up part of one of the tracks.
Two days later it was reported that Search and Rescue had found a body not far from where my partner had been tramping. (Possibly 1 – 2 km radius)
The boys (my partner and our neighbour) had worked out that the tracks they followed up the track were possibly his.

This entry is more a get together of like minded people who enjoy the outdoors and coming up with ideas on the best ways to stay safe when out in the bush.
Safety is something that is dearly important to me and I felt this is important enough to borrow my friends link if it will even help one person stay safe in the bush. It saddens me, however, that a man has to lose his life to make us aware of how precious life is.
