The music of Disturbed.

Ok, for those of you who have no idea who the band Disturbed are … take a look at this link before reading on.

Quite frankly, my job is not to do a biography on a band, give an extensive discography or have useful trivia such as telling you what David Draiman had for breakfast on Jan 17, 2002 and what color dinner plate Fuzz prefers best. If you’re that interested in them, then go research it for yourself.
My only job here is to say how their music impacts on me. Personally, I believe this is one of the most under rated bands in the music world today.
I first heard of Disturbed way back in 2001when I heard their cover of a Tears for Fears song entitled Shout. As soon as I heard it, I remember saying something like, “yeah, that is how the song should have been sung from the start. With a bit of gusto behind it.”
One of my dearest friends then played me the whole ‘The Sickness’ album. I instantly fell in love with the music.
Since this time I have listened to the odd song here and there from their following albums, and have enjoyed the music immensely.
Today, for the first time since hearing the bands music, I was watching vids on youtube and came across some live footage of the band performing. I was totally blown away at how angellic the lead singer’s voice came across in the music, especially the slower songs. Him being quite sexy didn’t go amiss either, but that is another story entirely.
I have watched while pop stars and rock stars alike come and go. I have watched the award shows and the lip sync’ed prancy performers who really have no concept of what entertainment really is. It’s all just sex on demand these days. It starts to get to the point where you ask yourself if there really is anyone out there with talent anymore.
Then along come Disturbed. No sex. Just good old fashioned hard rock, with a few slower songs thrown in for good measure. I wish I had of been in a position to have gone to the concert they had in Auckland when I lived up there as I believe it would have been an incredible show without all the trash that people must submit themselves to for exposure these days.
If you are into hard rock, then odds are you already have listened to at least 1 song of theirs. If you’re not a fan of hard rock, and really don’t want to know, I truly urge you to maybe start out simple.
Try listening to a song called Darkness first. Even if you don’t like the song itself, you will see the talent this band truly have.
